Introduction
Pan on a mixer refers to the stereo positioning of a sound source between the left and right speakers. The pan control on a mixer allows you to adjust the stereo placement of a sound source, making it sound more left or right in the mix.
Pan
Pan Multiple Instruments
Instruments with multiple sources could utilize panning to create room and depth in the mix. For example, panning two guitar players or each element of the drums (kick, snare, hi hat, toms etc)
Mono vs Stereo Channels
Mono pan knobs adjust the balance of a sound source between two channels of a mono signal, while stereo pan knobs adjust the stereo positioning of a sound source between the left and right channels of a stereo signal.
