    Introduction

The fx sends duplicate the signal towards a designated output for sends. These outputs could be used for headphone mix or for routing to audio effects. When there are multiple sends present, they could each be utilized for their own purpose. In the case of the ultra compact mixers we are looking at today, they only feature a single send.

    Headphone Mix

On the compact mixers like the Xena, the output of the send could be used as a headphone mix. The send would ideally should be pre-fader so that the send level would be independent of the channel level used for the main mix.

    Adding FX

This is a good moment to distinguish the difference between the Xena & Yamuka mixers. The Xena routes signal out of the mixer to external fx. The Yamuka features Internal FX. Once configured the Xena behaves a similar way to the Yamuka. The channel send forwards to the FX processor which then forwards to the Aux Returns where the signal rejoins signals feeding the main mix.
